Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information AvoCal collects, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, such as your name, email address, password, and profile details (age, gender, height, weight, and fitness goals). We also collect data you generate while using the App, including meal photos, food logs, nutritional entries, and weight check-ins.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve our services; personalize your experience and nutrition targets; process transactions and send related information; send you technical notices, updates, and support messages; respond to your comments and questions; and analyze usage patterns to improve the App.

3. AI and Food Photo Processing

When you photograph a meal, the image is securely transmitted to our servers for AI analysis. We use Google's Gemini AI model to identify food items and estimate nutritional content. Photos may be temporarily stored to process your request and then deleted. We do not sell or share your meal photos with third parties for advertising purposes.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with: service providers who assist us in operating the App (such as cloud infrastructure and analytics providers); law enforcement or government agencies when required by law; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to you.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the App's account settings. Some data may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form for analytical purposes.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our web presence may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience, analyze usage, and deliver personalized content. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences. Disabling cookies may limit some features of our web services.

8. Third-Party Services

AvoCal integrates with third-party services including: Supabase (database and authentication), RevenueCat (subscription management), Google Gemini (AI food analysis), and Apple/Google for sign-in. Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

9. Children's Privacy

AvoCal is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including: the right to access the personal data we hold about you; the right to correct inaccurate data; the right to request deletion of your data; the right to object to processing; and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, please contact us at privacy@avocal.app.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using AvoCal, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the App or by email prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of AvoCal after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Contact Us
